City Maintenance Laborer

The City of Elk City is currently seeking to fill the position for Maintenance Worker.

The worker will, under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of City facilities and buildings.

The minimum training and experience required to perform the essential functions are as follows:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent;
  • Some knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and construction skills;
  • Some knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and facility maintenance;
  • Some knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs;
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.

LANDFILL LABOR

Equipment operation such as dozer, grader, compactor, backhoe, etc.

Must have a Class B CDL or must obtain CDL within one (1) year of hire.

SUMMER SWIMMING POOL MANAGER

Duties include:

  • Prepare all work schedules for employees making sure the manager or head lifeguard is on duty at all times the pool is open.
  • Chemical analysis and application
  • Assist Human Resources in hiring of lifeguards
  • Insure hourly employees work no more than 40 hours per week
  • Report hours, days, and time worked for all employees under his/her direct supervision
  • Have all completed time cards to the City Clerk by 4 PM the Tuesday before payday
  • Insure employees under his/her direct supervision are properly trained in their duties
  • Hold monthly training and safety meetings for all employees under his/her direct supervision
  • Track pool attendance, balance cash drawer, and bring money to the city office for deposit.
  • Insure proper operating condition of all equipment
  • Handle first aid problems
  • Maintain staff rotations and staff breaks
  • Maintain discipline at the swimming pool facility and supervises all staff enforcing staff policies and rules.
  • Enforce the City of Elk City Swimming Pool rules and regulations to staff and public.
  • Maintain positive public relations at the swimming pool
  • Document and report all disciplinary problems and accidents to the HR Director-reports will be neat and concise.
  • Maintain a clean facility including but not limited to bathrooms, trash picked up in and outside of facility, pool vacuumed daily.
  • Set a positive example for the rest of the staff to follow.
  • Inform Parks’ Superintendent when supplies are needed and if equipment needs repaired.
  • Schedule events held at the pool at times other than the regularly scheduled hours.

 

Must have significant knowledge and experience in pool management operations. Training equivalent to high school diploma required. General management experience preferred. Must have Lifeguard Training Certification, CPR & First Aid Certification.
