About Youth and Family Programs

Welcome

In August of 1996, Elk City Youth and Family Programs (ECYFP) was created by the City of Elk City in response to the escalating problem of juvenile crime and juvenile gang activity. Over the years, through the development and implementation of a multitude of prevention, intervention and diversionary programs, juvenile delinquency has been reduced dramatically. Partnerships with the Elk City Public Schools, the Juvenile Court, Law Enforcement and the Office of Juvenile Affairs have contributed to the significant decline in juvenile crime in Elk City. The staff at ECYFP continually strives to develop and implement innovative opportunities for youth to gain knowledge. It is our goal to respond to the needs of the youth in our community.

Programs sponsored by ECYFP include Teen Court, the Youth Employment Training classes- R.I.S.E.  and  "Buck's Lodge" the on the job training site, the Western Oklahoma Wellness Initiative, the First Offender Program, the School Suspension-Community Service Program, and weekly therapeutic education classes.

ECYFP is very involved with the Beckham County ALITE  Coalition, (Advocating Lifestyle improvements through Enlightenment). The mission of the coalition is to advocate improvement through enlightenment. The vision of the Coalition is to enhance the quality of life for the communities of Beckham County.  This coalition is made up of community members and area agencies that focus on community-based issues. Anyone interested in attending a coalition meeting can contact Cheryl Megli. The meetings are held every third Thursday of the month from 12:00-1:00 pm at City Hall in Elk City. All are welcome and encouraged to come
