Elk City Carnegie Library is gearing up for our annual Summer Reading Program Starting in June! “Build a Better World” is this year’s theme. Our goal is to increase children’s love of books, and help avoid the “summer slide” that happens when kids stop reading after the end of school. To encourage our young readers, the youth library has prizes and activities throughout our Summer Reading Program!
Sign up is at the Youth Library starting in May 18, 2017! This program will continue until August 10. 2017! With every child’s sign up, they earn an entry for a chance to win a Kindle Fire or 3-D Doodle Pen (doodle pen must have parental approval and must be age 12 or up before winning pen).
For other chances to enter in the drawing, the child can either read 10 books or read for three 3 hours, and show the youth librarian their reading logs. Not only do they get another entry to win the grand prize, but they also get a small prize. Please limit entry and small prize to 1 per week.
New this year is our Adult Summer Reading Program! Our Adult programs are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the month of June. They will simultaneously happen while the Youth Library holds their Programs to encourage the parents to join in on the fun of our “Build a Better World” programs! They will be held in the Adult part of the library. There will be chances to be entered in for the grand prize as well (3D doodle pen).
