Government
Elk City has a Charter/City Manager type of government. The City has a comprehensive planning and zoning commission, museum board, airport board, park board, board of adjustments, housing authority, civic center board, and cemetery board.
The City is a member of the Certified Cities Program, Oklahoma Municipal League (OML), Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA).
